Rosemary Scalp Oil

About this Scalp oil

This recipe makes 100grams, it is a cold process, takes about 15 minutes and is one of the easiest recipes on my site. However there are quite a few ingredients! Depending where you are in the world and how easy ingredients are to source you can switch out ingredients quite easily. If you have fine hair you can use lighter oils or increase the percentage of the lighter oils.

Ingredients

Phase
Ingredients
Weight (grams)
Phase A Argan oil 25.00
Apricot kernel oil 30.00
Avocado oil 10.00
Jojoba oil 10.00
Hempseed oil 16.50
Grape seed oil 5.00
Vitamin E (Tocopherol) 2.00
Rosemary essential oil 1.00
Eucalyptus essential oil 0.5
Total 100

Equipment

  • 100ml dropper bottle
  • Glass beakers
  • Glass rods for stirring
  • 4 or 5 glass pipettes
  • Small funnel

To create grams from percentages, use the following formula: 15/100 x 50 = 7.50 grams

Method

  1. Sanitise all surfaces and all equiment
  2. Carefully weigh your botanical oils into a large glass beaker, making sure to tare the scale (resetting it to zero) after adding each ingredient.
  3. Mix the oils gently with a glass rod.
  4. Then add vitamin E (antioxidant) and the rosemary and eucalyptus essential oils. Even with this small amount of rosemary oil the rosemary scent will be quite powerful.
  5. Gently stir the oils together with a glass rod
  6. Transfer to the dropper bottle

How to use

Before you wash your hair, place one dropper full on your scalp and gently massage in. If you have thick hair use more. This oil will help gently awaken your scalp and help lift the sebum and moisturise the scalp – so if you have a flaky scalp it is perfect. I have very fine hair so I put this on about one hour before I wash, but you could definitely leave on over night or put on 2 to 3 hours before you wash your hair.

What is important is to gently massage you scalp when you are shampooing your hair to clean your scalp and remove all access oil. When I oil my scalp, I always wash my hair twice.
